Traveling Story Times
The UM Traveling Story Time Outreach is part of the library's comprehensive approach to providing age appropriate literacy development programs for emergent readers.

To help families reinforce the Six Early Literacy Skills of Print Awareness, Print Motivation, Phonological Awareness, Vocabulary, Letter Knowledge, and Narrative Skills, monthly take-home sheets were designed and distributed to all children at the child care centers and schools that we visit. Each sheet features a coloring page related to the theme and general contact information about the UM library on one side. On the other side of the sheet is a description of the featured early literacy skill that month, books that help demonstrate the skill and practical things parents can do at home to help their children better learn this skill.

For more information about this program or if you are the director of a school or child care center and are interested in discussing the possibility of the library coming to visit your program, please call Sue Kirkpatrick by calling 610-265-4806 or by email.
