Science in the Summer

The GlaxoSmith Kline & Franklin Insitute Science in the Summer program is a free science education program that helps elementary school children in the greater Philadelphia area "grow into science." Comprised of four 45-minute classes given over the course of a week held in the library, the program gets kids excited about studying science with hands-on experiments.

The course is taught by a certified teacher to groups of 16 students in two age groups: children who have completed Grades 2 or 3 (Level I) and for children who have completed Grades 4, 5, or 6 (Level II).

Registration: May 5 - 31, 2016

  • Children must attend all four classes. An absence for any reason will be considered a forfeit for the rest of the session.
  • Class size is strictly limited to 16 children.
  • Participants will be chosen by a lottery.
  • Parents must fill out and sign a permission slip in the library from May 5 to May 31 to enter their child's name in the lottery.
  • Those selected to participate will be notified by phone.
