PA Forward Initiative
PA Forward is a statewide initiative under the PA Library Association (PaLA), which works to strengthen the state’s libraries through education, advocacy and leadership. With the right support, libraries are ideally positioned to become the community centers of information, technology, and learning that will fuel educational and economic opportunities for all of our citizens. For more information, check out the PA Forward website.
This initiative focuses on five literacy skills:
- Basic
- Civic-Social
- Financial
- Health
- Information
It is our job in the library to provide resources and programs to promote these five literacies – you’ll be seeing signage in the library as well as on our promotional material highlighting one of the five literacies. This doesn’t change what we do, it gives us resources to connect with and support from our state association to provide our community with the tools they need to become successful citizens of Pennsylvania. The Upper Merion Township Library is currently working toward completing their Gold Star status!
